DESCRIPTION:RSVP DEADLINE MAY 25 \nHi T26 Scouts and Scouters\, \nPlease plan on a beautiful backpacking weekend trip from NIRA trailhead (near Figueroa Mtn) to Manzana Narrows Camp. The Narrows is a beautiful spot where there is a lot of water and there is shade provided by the steep walls of the gorge. We’ll get an early start each day\, in case the forecast is warm. \nWe will meet at Big 5 parking lot before 7am and carpool from there. \nThis outing is appropriate for all Scouts in our troop. Please remember\, we all need to participate regularly in troop weekend backpacking and hikes so that we will be prepared for the more challenging trips ahead. \nWE WILL DO ORIENTEERING AND NAVIGATIONS SIGNOFFS (2nd Class Item 3 and 1st Class Item 4) ON THIS TRIP. \nScouts will camp two per tent.  Tent buddies must be within 2 years of age. \nCook groups will be by patrol and each patrol will plan and buy its own food. SUMMARY:19 Oaks Backpack Overnight (Scholl)
DESCRIPTION:SIGNUP FOR THIS TRIP IS CLOSEDWe’ll do a 3 mile hike to our campsite\, near Paradise Road over fairly easy terrain. The start will probably involve crossing the shallow Santa Ynez river – START OUT IN WATER SHOES OR OLD SANDALS OR SNEAKERS FOR THIS – then we dry our feet and put on hiking shoes. Bring your own trail lunch (no cooking) to eat while hiking in. We’ll do some exploratory hiking near our beautiful campsite. This is a perfect trip for less experienced backpackers. More experienced scouts will be assigned the task of planning menus\, getting the food and showing the less experienced boys how cooking is done by patrols on a backpacking trip for dinner on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. Gather at Big 5 parking lot in Five Points shopping center at 8AM on Saturday\, May 4. We will return to the back parking lot at the church at 3PM on Sunday. Boys will need to check out gear at the April 30 troop meeting: tents (2 boys per tent\, maximum 2 years in age apart)\, water filters (1 per patrol by patrol leaders)\, stoves and fuel (1 per patrol by patrol leaders). A personal gear list will be put out soon.

Sign up in Scout Book for this event\n2. Go to the Earth Day website link included and sign up ONLY for the Volunteer Time Slot on Saturday April 27th from 1pm- 4pm. You can put your name as a child in the volunteer time slot but please include the name of whichever parent who can also be there with you at the event in the “comments”. I do NOT know what you will be doing as a volunteer but I’m sure it will be interesting 🙂\n3. Make sure that you SHOW UP on time if you signed up- Mrs. Perez will be there to make sure you get Community Service hours credit in Troop 26\n4.
