DESCRIPTION:This is the annual cold weather backpacking trip – a Troop 26 tradition since the late 70’s!  Planned for Beartrap campground\, north of Ojai.  7 miles each way\, approx 1\,500′ of climbing.  If highway 33 is still closed\, we will instead do White Ledge\, also in mountains above Ojai which is similar length and altitude gain.    It’s also the Silver Spatula competition for best dinner!  Last time we had all four patrols put forward good entires – and this isn’t usually the case – so let’s try to do this again! SUMMARY:Mistletoe Project and Fun Fundraiser (Doubleday)
DESCRIPTION:Mistletoe Picking for the Holidays\nWe will meet up at Big 5 and drive up to the Santa Ynez River Recreation Area where we will have a short hike 1-2 miles scouting the area for Mistletoe along the way. On the return we will pick mistletoe bring it back to the start point and put mistletoe in bags. Scouts will then take bags of mistletoe and sell them. They can be sold in groups in front of stores shopping center (I will check with stores first). Other ideas include neighbors\, businesses and college area. Mistletoe is a 5$ donation. In the past most scouts sold anywhere from 30- 50 bags netting $150-$250 for their troop/camp fund. There will be lots of mistletoe for families to bring home. Bring a sack lunch and water. DESCRIPTION:This year\, in honor of our veterans\, we are doing a flag ceremony at Valle Verde before their dinner service on Thursday Nov 9’th.  While it’s on a Thursday afternoon\, there’s no school on Friday\, so come out and do this short (1hr) service that means so much to the residents\, many of whom are veterans.  In the past we’ve met veterans from many era\, including Vietnam\, Korea\, WW2\, as well as the times in between.  Only about 1% of those who served in WW2 are still with us\, so it’s a chance to meet with some of them while we still can. DESCRIPTION:Hello Scouts of Troop 26\,\nJay\, Theo and I are holding a Troop Guide meeting this Tuesday  at 6:00 Pm.\nWe will go over the First Class requirements 3a\, 3b\, 3c\, and 3d\, which are lashings. Nearly every Scout under First Class needs these so please come. The meeting will take place in the green bar room and I hope to see you there.\nI want to make sure prospective First Class Scouts are working on the long lead items such as the fitness log\, camping nights\, and cooking the three meals.\nIf you have not started your fitness logs (Tenderfoot 6b\, 6c\, Second Class 7a\, 7b\, and First Class 8a\, 8b ) I will bring the tools for your fitness test (6a) so you can start your log. You will have to get your mile run/walk time before you start your log. Usually school makes you do it so that will count.\nIf you need camping nights/cooking the three meals\, you need to go on outings. The next outing is Big Sur so sign up to go if you can. Theo and Jay are planning to go.\nWe are here to help. If you need something that has not been discussed\, please see one of us.\nAlso\, Theo is doing a chess meeting in January.
