COR Corner 2025

Paul Weakliam, Chartering Organization Representative

Troop 26 was founded in 1960 and in that time has had hundreds of scouts, all on their own journey through scouting… some to the high Sierra, or maybe Philmont, or the Eagle rank, or all of those – and many other adventures! In 1976, the troop was in need of a new scoutmaster, and a Sam Soga answered a classified ad in the newspaper, and the rest is Troop 26 history. 50 years later, Sam is still active with the troop, and it seemed like an appropriate time to get everyone together, so we’re planning a reunion and celebration on Sunday May 17, 2026 at Rancho Allegre. We hope everyone can come and see long ago friends, and make new ones, and meet the current crop of Troop 26 scouts. And tell them how cold it was at Beartrap when they went, or what the best trip was, or how good/bad the food was at summer camp!

More details to follow, but the general plan is to spend some time of the afternoon sharing such stories and memories, and some activities at the restored Rancho Allegre. We’ll have a late afternoon dinner from Country Meat Market – owned by Eagle Scout Steve Gully (from one of the neighboring troops, 36) and some presentations about the history of both the troop and Mr. Soga. For those that can’t attend, never fear, we will hit you up in early 2026 for stories, photos, and memories that can be shared. Mark the date, and hope to see you there!
