Manzana Narrows Backpacking

The November backpacking trip will be to Manzana Narrows which is an old Troop 26 favorite wilderness campsite located in the Santa Barbara back country.

We will meet at Big 5 on Saturday Nov 16th at 7:00 AM, drive to Nira Campground and backpack to the Manzana Narrow’s campsite which is located on the eastern perimeter of Hurricane Deck in the San Rafael wilderness.

Our trail courses 7 miles up the drainage of Manzana Creek, the altitude gain is minimal and this is a great hike for our newer Scouts.

Saturday evening is the peak night for the Leonid Meteor Shower which can be very impressive if the sky is clear and the moon is not too bright. Hopefully Manzana creek is still running strong and there may be inviting swimming holes for hearty scouts.

Bring your BSA Handbook and there will be ample time in camp for working on advancement.

Scouts will be dropped off at home by 4 PM Sunday.

Call Asst. SM Baird with any questions at 895-9771.
