The Sunrise Dolphin Derby was a family festival at Chase Palm Park put on by the Rotary Club of SB with the main fundraising event being the “dolphin derby”. Folks can buy a toy dolphin and watch it race down a long inflatable water course and win prizes. Other events were face painting and lawn games with booths for kids and adults and of course our troop had a booth setup at the festival manned by Mr. Scholl and several scouts. Ten scouts earned service hours at the event setting up the booth and at the end of the day, tearing it down. Additionally, we were on hand to help with other tasks such as blowing up balls. other activities such as learning to tie a fast bowline knot, archery, rifle & shotgun ranges, canoeing, kayaking and snorkeling. The highlight of the camp was hanging out with friends, fellow scouts, learning to work and play together. We can’t wait to return. Jack G.
