Santa Cruz Island

Lead: Mr Weakliem, more details to come. This is on a 3 day weekend for SBUnified students.Spend 3 days on Santa Cruz Island – that island you can see from Santa Barbara! I believe it’s the least visited National Park! We’ll take boat from Ventura , camp in a valley campground, spend a day kayaking the sea caves and doing some snorkeling. Do a hike to the other side of the island, and swim or relax on the sandy beach. See the Island Fox – it only lives here on the Channel Islands. Keep your eyes peeled for the Island Blue Jay, or spotted skunk – yes with spots. Yes, only here. See California how it used to be, and kayak and snorkel in some of the most beautiful ocean scenery – this section of the Pacific is sometimes called the northern Galapagos. All right here in your own backyard. Leave early in the morning on Saturday from Ventura Harbor (we’ll carpool), arrive back to Ventura Harbor Monday evening about 5. RSVP so we can gauge interest, but you’re not committed yet. There will be a cost (to cover boat trip, campsite fee), probably about $200.
