Trail to First Class – Fitness

September 5, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 6:45 pm PDT

Hi Scouts,
Thanks to everyone who came to the Troop Guide meeting last Tuesday. It was a great start. After further reviewing timing I want to push forward on the fitness requirements.
SPECIAL NOTE – Anyone needing First Class requirement, 4a (Orienteering) should definitely consider the Manzano Narrows Backpacking trip on 9/9. Mr. Schley will be setting up an Orienteering Course and can sign this off. This is a very difficult requirement to get signed off.
Now back to fitness.
If you have completed the Tenderfoot requirements 6a, 6b, and 6c, start work on second class requirement 7a,
“After completing Tenderfoot requirement 6c, be physically active at least 30 minutes each day for five days a week for four weeks. Keep track of your activities.”
Once you start, don’t stop for 8 weeks and you will get your First Class requirements done too.
If you have completed requirements 7a and 7b for Second Class, work on requirements 8a for First Class.
‘After completing Second Class requirement 7a, be physically active at least 30 minutes each day for five days a week for four weeks. Keep track of your activities.”
School PE counts.
Remember it is up to you to do these on your own time and if you do not show initiative, we cannot help you advance. We will check in with your progress at our next meeting on September 26th at 6:00 pm.
To all Scouts who do not have their Tenderfoot Fitness requirements 6a, 6b and 6c I will be holding a special meeting on Sep 5th at 6:00 pm at the Church to start the process.
We will test your pushups sit-ups, stretching, and running for requirement 6a and guide you on 6b.
The scouts needing Tenderfoot Fitness Requirements are:
Duran Gilson
Ezra Cornett
Jody Lam
Lukas Kvilekval
Nolan Middleton
William Cornell
Caio Pereira
Colton Vowels
Hunter Swaim
Jon Martin
Joseph Berberet
Anyone hungry for their Scout rank could come prepared to recite the Scout Oath & Law and the Outdoor Code. As well, Demonstrate the Salute & Sign, describe advancement, ranks and merit badges.
And remember requirements 6a (Youth protection) and 6b (Cyber Chip) can be done at home with your parent.
Please bring your Scout Book and enthusiasm!
Thanks,
-Leo
