Committee Corner – June 2015

Hello parents and scouts of Troop 26!

How did it get to be June already? Wow.

We have our June Parent Committee meeting tomorrow night, June 2nd. All parents are encouraged and welcome to join the meeting that will start shortly after Troop announcements.

Friends of Scouting

This month, ASM Pinner will be giving us a presentation on Friends of Scouting. The Friends of Scouting program is an annual direct-solicitation campaign reaching out to Scout families, service organizations, and businesses, and is the largest source of income for the Los Padres Council.

In the past, this presentation has taken place earlier in the year. This year however, we have postponed it because it always hit at a time when so many other requests for money were coming in (e.g. Summer Camp, annual dues, etc).

4th of July Parade

We are looking for some parent volunteers that can help us put out and pick up chairs and recycle bins at next month’s 4th of July parade on State Street. More details to come at tomorrow’s meeting.

T-Shirt Order

If you haven’t already, this is the last call to place your order for the 2015-2016 Troop 26 t-shirt. The design remains the same as last year, but we are getting a nicer quality shirt this year. Despite the increase in cost of the nicer shirts, the cost to you remains at $10 with the Troop picking up the additional cost.

The sign-up for is here. The $10 per shirt cost will be due to the Troop when shirts are handed out in about a month.

Scholarship Request Form

For those interested in requesting scholarships to help cover the cost of the larger events such as Summer Camp, we now have a scholarship request form. The form can be found here.

Your request will be kept confidential and only the Scholarship Committee will know that you have requested assistance. The names of scouts receiving scholarships is not shared with the Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters or other Scouts.

The Scholarship Committee is comprised of the Committee Chair, Treasurer and one other member of the Parent Committee.

Summer Camp

Just a final reminder to get your paperwork in to ASM Brown if you haven’t done so already. Summer camp will be here before you know it!

I hope to see you all at the Parent Committee Meeting Tuesday night.
