Kayaking Trip in Fall of 2019

by David E.

Over this past weekend our troop went on a backpacking trip that was quite unique, as it was predominantly spent on kayaks and not on a trail. But before that the scouts went on a few adventures, such as a hike to the redwood pioneer tree, which you could fit in!

The next morning we drove to an office to get a permit to do the kayaking part of kayak trip, and then to Tomales Bay. We then kayaked around four miles through the rough water to the campsite and simply chilled there playing board games and eating hot dogs.

Later that night we went into the water so go see the bioluminescent life which was incredibly beautiful! The racoons went to town trying to get into tents and bags too. The next morning we kayaked back through flat seas to the dock after stopping at a cove where we say all kinds of life including elk, bay stars, and giant crabs. We grabbed lunch and, more importantly, buffalo ice cream!! And finally, the last thing we did before going back home was eat at In n Out for dinner, and play Smash Bros on several nintendo switches.
