Oregon Coast Bike Trek 2017

In the second week of July, twelve scouts and seven adult leaders/parents of Troop 26 pedaled bikes down the Oregon Coast. We started in Astoria and finished in Coos Bay, 270 miles total – quite an accomplishment! We traveled an average of 40 miles per day, typically camping at or near the beach. Our days were filled with beautiful scenery, perfect weather, and unparalleled camaraderie. In addition to the scenery, some highlights include the Tillamook Cheese Factory Tour (giant ice cream cones for lunch), campfires on the beach, sand-boarding down big sand dunes, shipwrecks, sleeping in hammocks, lighthouses, and oysters! Some challenges we faced included being robbed by raccoons and a bike crash that sent Logan to the hospital (thankfully, only a sprained ankle) and Ben’s bike to the shop. It was a memorable trip to say the least!
