Camporee! April 21-23 2023

This year Camporee is back! Troop 26 along with many other troops in the Los Padres Council participated in the annual camporee where troops and patrols compete in activities related to scouting. Some of the highlighted events were the crossing the Amazon, search and rescue, and our very own first aid station. We had 8 adults and 19 scouts come up to Rancho Alegre for this event. The Santa Barbara sheriff’s office helicopter even visited on Saturday and showed scouts what they do.

On Saturday scouts went around camp with their patrols competing in 12 different events. Each event was scored based on things like leadership and teamwork, as well as completing the task. One favorite of the events was crossing the Amazon where patrols would try to use barrels under a wooden platform to roll across the court. The troop managed to get 3 patrols a 1st place ribbon. At the end of the day the camp hosted a campfire to announce the winners and perform the call for the order of the arrow.
