The overnight hike to Horseshoe Bend in the Santa Barbara area covered a distance of about 10 miles and an elevation gain of about 1,413 feet; there were 14 scouts taking part in it, and we set up our camp near Horseshoe Bend. A notable feature of the hike was the number of creek crossings, since these took a lot of time and caused the hike to take longer. We also had fun playing in the Manzana Creek and the Horseshoe Bend meadow. – Historian, Henry Rutledge
