Playground Hike Summary

On Saturday, April Fifth, 12 scouts, 5 adults, one sibling and one dog gathered at the playground. The original plan was to go to lizard’s mouth but it was decided that the playground was more exciting and enjoyable. Going to the playground has always been a unique trip as it is less of a day hike and more of a day of boulder hopping and climbing.

While being joined by a younger sibling who is not a scout is rare, much rarer is it for a dog to join us that didn’t belong to any of the scouts or adults. Tsola, as her name tag indicated, appeared to be a seasoned expert when it came to boulder hopping and was certainly able to keep up with even the most adept scouts.

The boulder hopping began around 8:00 AM and was to end at 10:00, at which point the scouts ate, then left. While some chose to see how far from the beginning they could get, other chose to relax among and atop the huge rocks and chat.

At 10:00 the scouts sat down, enjoyed the view (and some friendship bread courtesy of Mr. Soga), then walked the small hike back to the cars, passing a family who decided not to go to the playground due to the copious amounts of poison oak along the trail. the scouts were home around noon, leaving time for more relaxing or more adventuring over the course of the weekend.
