Troop 26 Scouts Raising Funds for Canoes – Please help with our last phase!
Our troop is really into canoeing. In fact, we’ve started a new tradition, canoeing expeditions at Northern Tier (on the Canada/Minnesota Boundary Waters Wilderness). We’re now on track to do this high adventure trek every 3 years.
Since 2020, we’ve practiced canoeing on Lake Cachuma on a regular schedule. We’ve been able to rent canoes there until about a year ago, when a windstorm destroyed the rental fleet. This spring, we Scouts formed a Canoe Project Task Force and raised money to buy 5 canoes for the troop. These will be used to practice on Cachuma and for canoe camping at places like Lake Casitas. We’re now trying to work out an arrangement to store the canoes at Lake Cachuma.
Our next phase is to buy a canoe trailer for safe storage and for transport to canoe outings. We’ve raised some of the money for a good, used trailer, costing about $5,000, and would appreciate any help in raising the last few thousand dollars.
If you can would like to make a tax deductible donation, please write “Canoes” on your check or on the memo area in Zelle.
