Scoutmaster Minute

Sometimes it’s easy to be overcome by adversity, in all manner of situations. Maybe it’s something physical, like a backpacking event and it’s a very tough day, you’re sore and tired, your pack is heavy. Or maybe it’s a tough homework assignment that you’ve been putting off simply because it seems insurmountable, or maybe a project at work has got the better of you. Perhaps it’s something you feel is out of your direct control like politics or the state of the environment. But in all things like this, the answer is almost always the same one you use when you’re trudging up that mountain with the heavy pack, and there is voice in your head whispering “Man, this is tough, why do I bother”. The answer, just put one foot in front of the other. Soon enough one of those steps lands you on top of the mountain, and you can set your pack down, relax and enjoy the view. For a while at least. I’m not sure what life would be like without adversity, but I think it might be kind of boring.
