September 11th Rememberance

20’th Anniversary Sept 11 Remembrance Ceremony

Written by Jonathan W, Eagle Scout

This year some local scouts from various troops and I participated in a

9/11 ceremony in Santa Barbara. We got to be part of the flag

ceremony, standing at attention and saluting behind police officers

who did flags. After that, we listened to various speakers including the

Mayor, Sheriff, Fire Chief, a retired special agent in charge from the

FBI, and Congressman Salud Carbajal. After a reading of the victims’

names, one of the scouts played taps on the bugle with us again

standing at attention by his side, followed by a helicopter fly-by.

After the ceremony we got to talk with and meet the various local

dignitaries at the ceremony. Overall it was a great experience to

help in an important ceremony and meet some important people!
